ORCHIDS: Cattleya Orchids

The Cattleya orchid is one of the most popular orchids, perhaps because of its many shapes, sizes and colors. This orchid is a type of epiphyte, or air plant. Pot them in free-draining media, and keep roots dry between waterings. Cattleyas require bright light to some sun, but avoid direct sun during the middle of the day. Grow them in an east window, or a shaded south or west window.
